About Vurb

Vurb’s mission is to create a smarter, more connected digital world, empowering people globally to do more of what they want, all in one place.

Why Vurb?

Apps simply don’t communicate with each other, and the way we search and share on mobile is encumbered by switching from app to app or using a mobile browser. Ever try to find places, book reservations, and share plans on your phone? On average it takes five or more apps and an intolerable amount of toggling back and forth between apps to do so. It’s no wonder we spend 11 hours a month using social apps and doing searches alone on our mobile phones.

There are over 2 million apps across the major app stores, so choosing the right apps to use, or even knowing that they exist, is exhausting. Once you finally find what you need, communicating and sharing with friends is difficult and inconvenient. What’s missing is a contextual layer that brings everything together.

Vurb is the only search app that goes beyond mere search. We help you easily find, save, and do the best things by connecting community recommendations, rich content, and useful services — personalized for you in one simple app. Whether you are looking for inspiration in travel, entertainment, or just want to find dinner, Vurb brings you results you need to have the best experiences, share your plans with friends, or save your own ideas for later.

The Company

Vurb was founded in 2011 by Bobby Lo and was the winner of TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2014. Vurb launched it’s iPhone app in early 2015 and was quickly named a “Best New App” by Apple and TIME. In quick succession, Vurb developed an Apple Watch companion app, then in August 2015, launched an app for Android and added Vurb chat. We are based in San Francisco and are financially backed by Redpoint Ventures, Tencent, Vivi Nevo, Max Levchin, Drew Houston, and other Silicon Valley luminaries.
